Why hello autumn, we thought you weren’t going to make an appearance this year. You’ve arrived just in time for winter!
I’m a Queensland girl, so I love summer and have to resist going into ‘bear-in-a-cave’ hibernation mode during South Australia’s colder months.
When I moved to SA (for love, naww) five years ago I arrived smack-bang in the middle of winter. It didn’t take me long to work out that my Queensland ‘winter’ wardrobe was completely inadequate for my new state. Oh, so you actually need jackets that are warm??
Mr M strategically forgot to mention that it can – and does – snow where we live in South Australia. Now, I’m not saying that information would have changed my mind about moving…
But hey, Mrs M never ran away from an excuse to go shopping and I rose to the challenge and filled my wardrobe with some cosy pieces and jackets that actually, well, jacketed.
Although I would choose heat over the cold any day, I do love dressing for colder weather so I am pleased the season is finally turning enough to start unpacking my winter woollies.
This week, with chilly nights and a few days of rain, it was definitely jeans and jumper weather. However, I’m hanging on to the last rays of sunshine with my new pair of espadrilles. (Ok, so I may have accidently bought two pairs because I loved them so much. Ooops.)
Here is how I paired denim with some new and old favourites this week:

I lovelovelove these jeans from Lalt Collective in Clare. I totally stole my friend Amanda’s style with these, so I’m glad she was happy to reveal where she bought them.
This week, I dressed them down with a wool cardigan for a day in my home-office then added striped espadrilles to run errands up the street.
I also dressed them up with ankle boots and a little bit of bling for Sunday lunch with friends. This star-spangled jumper is what Mrs M’s dreams are made of: rose gold + stars + pink, oh my.

I also embraced stripes and spots this week – sometimes at the same time.

I found this striped jumper in Japan – I love the fringe detail around the sleeves. This week, I paired it with blush ballet flats and a matching Elk clutch.

I love supporting regional shops and distance is no barrier – the very lovely ladies at Bella Yorke, Ardrossan, are my remote stylists and I often shop via their Instagram or Facebook posts. When I saw this navy jumper I just couldn’t resist. Because, polkadots. I paired it with another pair of espadrilles and bright earrings to add a pop of colour.
How are you staying warm and stylish this month?
Love, Mrs M xx

Ohh I’ve been eying off that witchery star knit! Looks fab!
I grew up in SA (now Sydney based) but will never forget those bitterly cold winters!
Stay warm! Xx
Thanks gorgeous! I fell in love with it too! X
